From "Preface" To begin, this book was written to help you succeed, but it is somewhat different from other books. I created this book as a training book that one may read over and over again to achieve success. This training book will enable the reader to actually change their behavior, habits, temperament, and future. The typical behavioral pattern of successful people is to avoid pushing too hard as much as possible, and instead to do things rationally. I hope that the reader will use this book to install the ability to achieve success rationally into their own brain, and acquire the habits required for success. Many books on success typically describe how to achieve it using episodes and theory, with little of the book dedicated to what is of core importance. There are even books which would fill only three pages if the points therein were condensed. While these books use numerous approaches to describe cause and effect in an attempt to emphasize what is important, resulting in an abundance of specific examples, the resulting thickness of the book does not necessarily translate to an equal amount of meaningful content. This book was written using the opposite approach. Readers can typically gain a certain understanding by reading the theories presented in a given book. However, few of them will gain a deep enough understanding to put those theories into practice. That is because the important points have not really been input into the readers' brains. Further, it is even more difficult to form habits from those points. The purpose of this book is for the reader to develop a temperament for success through practice. Accordingly, the important points are repeated over and over again. There can be no practice without repetition, and one cannot develop new habits without practice. Through repeated practice, the reader will change the way they think and naturally acquire the habits for success. Accordingly, I implore the reader not to skip over sections that seem to repeat what has already been said, but to understand that there is a point to reading the information over and over again. This is the same approach of monks in training who read the Buddhist scriptures every day to learn the teachings contained therein. The repetitions are an important step that will serve to install the software of "successful habits" into one's brain. As the reader continues to read with focus, their behavior will begin to change, and their autopilot for success will begin to function. However, the reader should continue the training even when they feel that their luck is changing in a positive direction. It takes a very long time for one's temperament to change completely and to fully acquire the necessary habits. It could be said that one has begun to acquire the habits for success when the training itself becomes fun. When creating a Japanese sword, said to have the sharpest edge in the world, the steel is heated at high temperature and struck repeatedly with great concentration. It is made hard and strong by folding and striking, heating and striking, over and over again to remove impurities. This process of repetition, called "hardening", is essential for the creation of a first class sword. In the same way, the "hardening" process of repeatedly reading this book will help remove the bad habits which can prevent success.
