This book is about a Deputy Sheriff Canine Officer Mike Matthews and his dog Max. Mike works for the Burn County Sherriff's Department in Montana and has to prove that the County of Burn needed more Canine Officers, He is fresh out of the academy and he and Max experience a multitude of life threatening situations. Mike is a veteran of two tours in Iraq and is forever hearing the sounds of war until he meets someone that makes that sound, a distant thunder. Mike lives on a ranch that raises quarter horses and when he is off duty he helps his dad saddle break the horses. This book is filled with action, adventure, compassion and a special love between two people.
