This book is a fictional take on spiritual warfare and the events leading up to the Great Tribulation, as portrayed in the book of Revelation. While angels and demons play a large role in the telling, they are not the main protagonists or antagonists. These roles are filled instead by three groups: the Prophets, the Dark Brotherhood, and the Chosen. As one may guess, the Prophets are made up of the members of mankind fighting on heaven's side, while the Dark Brotherhood are people who have chosen to serve alongside Satan. The Chosen are a people of undetermined loyalty; wavering throughout life or, as one will come to find out, death. The Chosen are also the primary source of dispute within the pages of WHEN THE WORLD ENDS as the warring factions bitterly attempt to sanctify or sacrifice the Chosen. This is not a sugar-coated book. There are scenes of intense violence and horror. Without pulling any punches, it is my intent to describe in detail what a war for the souls of mankind would look like. Yet in this darkness resides beauty. This story delves much deeper than the grittiness of war into themes of redemption, forgiveness, loss, and valor. It is my hope that this book will not only appeal to the student of scripture, but to anyone else who has been curious about the spiritual war unfolding behind the veil of humanity since the dawn of creation.
