In 1685, James, Duke of Monmouth, was defeated at the Battle of Sedgemoor, bringing to an end the Pitchfork Rebellion. It is generally accepted that his claim to the throne was not valid... Suppose that Monmouth's claim was true... Suppose that one of his descendants, a rich, powerful man, devised a plan to avenge his ancestor and seize the throne of England. A man wealthy enough to possess his own army and powerful enough to set it up in England right under the nose of the authorities. How could such a man be stopped and who could stop him?
