The majority of these stories, set in and around Vancouver, B.C. take place in the present, or recent past. The remainder take place in England, France, Italy and Greece, and are set for the most part in the 1960s and '70s. Some of these stories are darkly disturbing, even difficult to read, while others are dryly ironic, and yet others walk a path between whacky humour and romantic. If there is a common link in them all, it is in the writer's penetrating look at how human beings might behave in the complex situations in which he has placed them. In the micro worlds that Faragher creates there is much that is familiar and also, thank God, much that is not. Certainly few things are as they might at first appear. This collection of sixteen stories includes seven that have been previously published in, 'The Well and other stories' by Thistledown Press. Of that collection it was said: "I find here a welcome new voice whose next collection will remain for me the object of anticipation." Canadian Literature, 8 Dec. 2011. Web. 5 Oct. 2013 "This sophisticated collection of often hard-hitting stories reads like the prose of an author who's been publishing books for decades." Review by Shelley Leedahl, Saskatoon Publishers Weekly Book Pics "Faragher captures in meticulously crafted prose the vagaries of his protagonists in situations ranging from the poignant to the laughable." Patrick Taylor, author of the New York Times best selling series of books based on An Irish Country Doctor.
