Haiku Prayers

I have long had an affinity for Chinese Haiku poems. About five years ago I realized these poems lent themselves exceptionally well to brief prayers, arranged in a pattern of five syllables in the first line, seven in the second and five in the third. I experienced the writing of these prayers as a spiritual puzzle. Our Lord starts me out and, little by little, as the days and hours go on, he shows me what the different pieces of the prayer are and how they fit together. It reminds me that only He is the Creator by allowing me to struggle with the writing. But the prayers keep coming. Lord, in my darkness Your hand upon my shoulder You, the Light within. It is my hope that these Haiku prayers will also help you to experience the Light within. My first book, Ninety Prayer Images for Followers of Christ, was also published by Amazon.
