The Chronicles of Odde tell of the Great Convergence, a time when the doors to another world are open. Pulled from their mundane lives, a group of young woman are called to a world full of magic: The Kingdoms of Odde. Here they must fend for themselves, and if they are brave enough and clever enough, an extraordinary destiny awaits. Abbey is still getting use to the learning curve here in Odde, working as a cook and serving wench in a medieval-ish inn, when something even stranger happens, and not just for her, but the whole of Lock's Head. Whispers of the return of the Beast are all over the Wolf's Tooth Tavern. Lights have been seen in the Ruin and something called the Naming is almost upon them. When things proves to have all the dangerous implications their names suggest and Abbey's friend Milly is chosen. Abbey trades places with her to save her only real friends, Milly and the man Milly loves, Piter. But nothing is going as Abbey expects, instead of a raging monster, she meets Robin, the Beast's stoic friend and servant, and Simon, his impish ten year old brother. Come to find out, the Beast isn't a beast at all, but a very handsome man. To add to her confusion, Abbey isn't eaten, or even cursed, but there are far too many fairytale references for her to feel at ease, because all indicators point to her demise if she can't figure something out soon. Unable to leave the Ruin and waiting to be claimed by the curse, Abbey joins the two brothers, to become their cook and slowly learns the truth behind the whispers and tall-tales. What can she do to save them all when the fairytales got it wrong, and loving the Beast might just be the thing that gets her killed?
