THREE EXCERPTS from THE MAN ON THAT CROSS: #2 The Victory of Passover - #3 Good Friday on Wednesday, and #4 The Deception of Easter. All in one VERY INFORMATIVE book. When I first came to Messiah, I didn't have a perception of Bible chronology. My understanding of the Lord's coming to Earth as "the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world," His death and resurrection, His return for the church at The Catching Away of The Saints or The Rapture (as it is commonly known), and His final victory at Armageddon was, if anything, very opaque. Consequently what was I to do? What is anyone, who wants to know the chronological details of his Savior's death on the cross to do? I needed to understand the detailed sequence of that one day when humanity was redeemed from the cycle of death. I simply was not getting this understanding from Church theology and certainly the words of the Apostle Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 15: 4 where he declares ". . .that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: " was not making any sense to me. So even after reading his famous statement made to the Corinthians, was I to continue believing that the Lord died on a Friday at three o'clock in the afternoon and that He rose again on Sunday morning? According to this teaching, my calculations were not adding up to the popular belief that He was in the grave for three days. In fact, if anything, if He died on Friday and resurrected on Sunday, then He was only buried one day, that day was Saturday. this logic simply didn't make sense to me then and it still does not make sense now.The question everyone should be asking is what happened to His prophecy in Matthew 12: 40? Here is what the Lord says there. "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth". If the Lord truly died on a Friday as the Church is taught to believe, then His words spoken by Him above did not come to pass. If I wanted to get to the bottom of this, I had no choice but to embarked on a deep study of the Scriptures which included, first of all, the chronological order of Lord's death and resurrection. In this, the most wonderful journey, I learned the treasures and deep truths that belong to us, the Church.I learned, that the Lord did not die on the Gregorian calendar day of what we call today Friday, but in fact, He died on Wednesday, a day called High Holy Sabbath which comes but once a year and only during the season of Passover. No matter which way we perceive it, the Lord's death and His resurrection are the most important occurrences on this side of Heaven. His death on the cross was planned and timed to the very second before the foundations of the worlds. Certainly it was planned before the creation of the Earth with precise details that can only be attributed to the Creator. Join me today for this fascinating step by step journey of the Lord's death on the Cross and learn why the Lord, in fact, did not die on the regular Gregorian calendar day that today we call Friday but, in fact, died on Wednesday.
