Sitting on the porch of the cabin, Loki was enjoying the first rays of the new day. It promised to be a warm day, and with the absence of clouds rain was not going to factor into the weather. Loki liked sitting here in the morning, watching the dawning of the new day in the little hamlet that made up the valley of the Lake. The Druid Lake hamlet was made up of folks of all races that decided to join Loki here and to make a go of it. These were his friends, his neighbors, and his family. The hamlet started with four families traveling to this valley to assist Loki in his task as Guardian, and has since grown to forty families from all walks of life. Life in the valley was good. "Good morning Loki, isn't it a beautiful day?" said Syrus, in his unusually happy voice. "Syrus, I have found that most mornings here are beautiful, but then I'm partial to waking up in Kambarington" replied Loki. Though it had been over ten years since he had first returned here, Loki never seemed more at home than he felt in this land. Drake had just arrived up the hill, coming from the main road, leading to the Guardians home, puffing from the long incline. "Not even summer yet, and it's hotter than a devil's convention in Las Vegas. Not sure I'll ever get used to the weather here". "Drake, you know the weather here is just as it was back in Pennsylvania, just not as extreme" chided Syrus. "I, myself like it. And besides, there are no driveways to shovel, and the grass is easy to keep after". "Gentlemen...you know that we do not speak of life on the other side" reminded Loki. "Besides, now that you are both here, we need to discuss the issue of the hamlet, and how to handle its expansion".
