Running The Distance

There were but few similarities in the professional career pursuits of Lisa Armenderiz and Dr. Paul McGrath, aside from the fact that they both allowed their lifestyles to be ruled by their careers. They shared a com-mon interest in the sport of running, and they also shared a common debilitation - that of loneliness. Neither of them had any initial interest in the other, whatsoever, and there should have been no logical reason for a mutual interest to develop between them. Their career interests were di-verse, there was a ten-year difference in their ages, and they were both socially reclusive in their private lives. Des-pair and loneliness, regardless of a person's financial suc-cess in life, sometimes has a way of changing people, and a change was long overdue in the lives of Lisa Armenderiz and Paul McGrath. When change finally did arrive, it would turn the world as they had always known it, upside down. As far as love is concerned: Love is something which is intended to be shared among people who lack the intelligence to see the futility in such nonsense... or is it?
