Welcome to the Tabitha program workshop. This workbook is designed to help people who are currently or at risk of becoming chronically homeless. It can also be used for people who are recovering from addiction, struggling with social anxieties, or those who are at risk of becoming homeless. Use this book in either a group or one on one setting. Tabitha is a faith based program. However, the subject of faith is only one aspect of this program not the program as a whole. The sections focusing on faith are designed to help participants develop an understanding of faith, God and how it relates to them and the world they live in.
The Tabitha Program has proven results that not only help those struggling with chronic homelessness but also helps shelters operate more effectively. People who are chronically homeless consume and tie up shelter resources. By removing this population from shelter and utilizing the Tabitha Program, shelters can turn their focus on people who only need temporary housing to get back on their feet. The results; more effectively run shelters with less violence, resources are freed up and staff working conditions are improved. This workbook is designed as two books in one and has been used to help hundreds of people who were chronically homeless overcome homelessness and maintain self sustaining, independent lives. Book one can be utilized by case managers in a group setting or one on one. It covers topics such as, developing an Individualized Program Plan, Goals and objectives, and Identifying stumbling blocks. It also helps case management gather case history such as family, education and past trauma information. Once book one has been completed it can be used to map out a plan of action for each participant. Book two provides ten life skill classes. The classes can be facilitated by a case manager, another staff member or volunteer. They should be scheduled to take place within the same eight weeks as book one. Each class includes participant homework, and class exercises. Every class ends with a journaling exercise to help participants develop a plan of action for applying what they've learned. This is the participant's workbook. There is a separate workbook to be used by facilitators.Author: B. K. Roth |
