Terrible Tina

This was terrible! Mary Beth Boggs is looking forward to starting fifth grade at Sang Branch Elementary School... until Tina Higglethorpe walks through the door. Mary Beth knows from experience that where Tina goes, trouble nearly always follows. When an accident sends Tina's guardian to the hospital, Mary Beth is shocked to find out that, not only is Tina a distant cousin, she's moving in! This is a middle school chapter book that takes place in the Kentucky Highlands, but has a universal message of acceptance and the power of kindness. "Holy Cow! When Miss Hensley writes about life in the fifth grade at Sang Branch Elementary, it is like YOU ARE REALLY THERE - when the girls form a secret club, when Ralph throws up in science lab, and whenever there's trouble, which usually has SOMETHING to do with Tina Higglethorpe... You'll love it! Cross my heart." - Anne Shelby, author of the Adventures of Molly Whuppie and Other Appalachian Folktales "TERRIBLE TINA is a remarkable story about an unlikely friendship and the power of kindness. I won't soon forget strong, compassionate Mary Beth and tough, smart Tina, nor their adventures in this beautifully wrought novel that sings with a palpable sense of place and Hensley's keen insights and wisdom. This is a book with a powerful message that all ages will love." - Silas House, author of Clay's Quilt and many other literary works
