While playing in an abandoned garden 12 year old Polly and her pretend friend Felix meet a pair of oddly dressed adults. Polly knows she shouldn't talk to strangers but this unusual pair tells her that they have come to her for help. At first she decides to forget about them until a talking tree changes her mind.
