This story is about a colt who is born into a herd of wild horses. One by one his family comes to greet him and he lives a happy, carefree life until one day a GIANT summer storm develops. He panics and in his fright he runs and runs into the dark night. In the morning he wakes up and discovers that he is totally alone. He calls for his family but no one comes. He sets off to find them and encounters different animals along the way who encourage him to keep looking for his family. Following Native American folklore, first Eagle flies in to talk to him, then Coyote gives his advice, Grizzly Bear offers direction and finally Buffalo helps him get through the long night. In the world of animals and Native American folklore tradition, this is a great story for kids of all ages.
