Shortly after their breakup, Adam pursues a more grounded lifestyle when he meets Eve at High Holiday services. Meanwhile, Lilith has taken company with a sordid masochist named Sammy who rules caverns filled with demons that dwell beneath the sunken city. Sammy and Lilith use their magic to manipulate the lives of the demons in their realm as well as the people they know in the city above.
