This novel features the race for fame and earnings that may be imposed on researchers working with the pharmaceutical industry in many countries. None of the individuals being described in the present plot are real, however, they are victims of a system, where no failures would be welcomed without someone paying for "damage inflicted". Janus is the god, who serves as the protector of cities, and he is able to overlook both entries to this community With his two faces. However, his noble cause is tainted by the evil of thos who succumb to the temptations to follow the path of crime. And his face becomes uglier, until he imposes revenge on the ones not being brave enough to withstand the pressure. As a penalty, he grows a third face, whic becomes more and more ugly when he tries to seek revenge for the victims of the process. But, during the process, the justice sought by our hero forces him to resort to cruelty in order to subdue his opponents, and the question then emerges: "to what extent may revenge be justified?". The present novel describes how research performed by academia and within the pharmaceutical industry may turn into a "deadly" race to obtain success, and at a price only the innocent will have to pay. And without understanding what is happening before it is too late. There is ample reference to research, which actually has been conducted, but the setting, the manipulations and fraud described could have been done in real life. There is also a clash between cultures, however, it should be emphasized that the choice of the "winning team" is serendipitous, and there is no reason to believe that the roles "played" by certain individuals of the personage could not have ben "swopped" in real life. It has been a pleasure to put this novel together, and the Japanese versus the Western cultural inheritage has made it possible to create a relatively sinister environment, which often prevails when lots of money and fame are at stake.
