Estelle experienced a troubled childhood, always finding herself hiding secrets or covering for someone. She felt that she was rejected. She was overtaken with violence, and the boundaries in life caused by flaws. Raised by an aunt and uncle and forced to wear the mark her mother bestowed upon her, she was sworn to oath to keep a long-lived family secret. Then there were the rulers in a foreign land that took rule over the country she was raised and the rulers set out to court every young maiden age 18 to 25 in what the King called "The Harvest." Estelle was exempt from The Harvest because she had recently turned 26 years old. One of the king's servants made an oath with the king, swearing that the girl was worth a change of policy because people like Estelle were not welcomed in the palace.
