The Civil War was a very indicative war between two parties that disagreed upon human rights. The only humane way to live is to be free. The United States Constitution protects our rights and liberties. In order to preserve freedom in the United States Slavery was to be abolished. Soon after the attack on Harpers Ferry's Ammunitions supply by John Brown the Civil War began. The North began to pass ideals that liberation of slaves would benefit our public by allowing blacks to live in peace with whites. This understanding made pressure for President Abraham Lincoln to pass the Emancipation Proclamation that lead to the 13th Amendment. Given the circumstances the North formed armies to protect the freedoms of all Americans. The South established their own government by February 1861, Jefferson Davis was elected President of the Confederacy. The Mason Family had become disturbed and decided to let their Slaves go. This being 1862 the second Bull Run Battle was a decisive battle that changed the thought of the Mason family Who owned land along the Manassas Gettysburg Pass Way. The anger of the Mason family splint the Plantation Owners and the workers of the land apart, forcing the release of all the slaves except for two. Way Ward Life 2, A Time for War is a war story that explains the harsh facts of battle. It tells a story of Michael Mason Jr. who later changes his name to Colonel Michael Forgery. Starting in the War at the age of 13 he became an accomplished young adult who fought his way through the trials of the Civil War. A call back commander for the Vermont 3rd later an Artillery Operator for the infamous Vermont 6th. Having a son by Mary Preston his wife him and his son attend the 50th Anniversary of the Civil war battle of Gettysburg.
