The Olympic Games are supposed to be a time of fellowship and appreciation for the world's greatest athletes. Instead, when the 1936 games are held in Berlin under Hitler's control, they become a symbol of the growing tension between Germany and the rest of the world. Helmut Schmidt and Samuel Goodman are both slated to compete in the shot put event, but then Samuel is banned due to his Jewish heritage. While other nations celebrate athletes of all ethnic backgrounds, Hitler wants a German Olympic team free of "undesirables." Helmut competes without his best friend, but his hatred of the F?hrer is cemented. Years later, Helmut, now an officer in the German Army, finds himself in the Italian beach town of Bibioni. There, he finally puts his vengeance into motion. When his suspicious behavior begins drawing the attention of other officers, Helmut will have to tread carefully to protect his double life. One officer in particular, Lieutenant Karl Heisenberg, is certain Helmut is helping Jewish refugees. Nothing, however, will deter Helmut from his mission to stand up to the Nazis-and to avenge his friend by helping others escape. But will it come at the expense of his own life?
