An enslaved African man, Kofi, captured in West Africa, serves as a spiritual guide to Henry, Jane and others who have been enslaved in America. As each generation learns the stories, they became story keepers in the Griot tradition. Gospel music and horn playing are infused in the stories of the Kofi and Khidar families through slavery, freedom, Juneteenth, lynchings, Civil Rights and achievements, concluding with the Second election of President Barack Obama. This is a collective journey of family discovery and, in context, self-discovery.
