During our mortal sojourn, we are born into varying levels of prominence, comfort and opportunity. The individual who is born into poverty, abuse, or lack of privilege will have an equal opportunity through eternity for ultimate salvation and exaltation. Some of the growth toward ultimate exaltation, through the atoning blood of Christ, may take place while in the pre-mortal existence, more occurs during mortality. Much progression and many of the crowning ordinances can and do occur after mortal life has passed. Our mission in this life is to find a way to overcome our circumstance, to improve our lot in life and to maintain our obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
