Pettigrew admits that she was insulated from many of these radical changes, but she still recalls the tensions the Vietnam War, Richard Nixon's resignation, and the hunt for the Zodiac Killer brought into her life. At the same time, Pettigrew celebrates the triumphs of the civil rights movement and its lasting legacy. Pettigrew's new poetry collection spans from her childhood to her current position on the cusp of becoming a sexagenarian. Pettigrew infuses all of her poems with hope and optimism. It was her strong faith and positive thinking that helped her overcome the many obstacles on her journey forward. She writes of the challenges of romance and motherhood but also of the light they brought to her life. Pettigrew may look back at where she's been, but she also knows that she is nowhere near the end of her unpredictable path. She can't wait to see what tomorrow holds!
