Fried Rice And Fangs (Harper "Foxxy" Beck Series)

In Waresville, crime not only pays, it's marketable. Without the spooky tour buses that frequent haunted houses, the unexplainable crimes, and the magic shops that bring in tourists far and wide, this little town would have been home to nothing but tumbleweeds. Thanks to being the "Most Haunted Town in America," Waresville is not only surviving, it's thriving. They've got their own movie theater, morgue, and, as of this week, Waresville has a new murder victim to advertise. The problem? The town wants to keep this victim under wraps. Magic may run Waresville, but there are some creatures too scary for even tourists to stomach. That's where Harper Beck, detective extraordinaire, disco skate owner, and witch, comes in. In her ten years in Waresville, Harper's never met a mystery she doesn't like, and this one is no exception, even if it does involve a creature she's never dealt with before. But fanged bad guys and bitten victims aren't all Harper has to contend with. If it's not troubles with her new stepson, there's an old face back in Waresville, and he's blackmailing her. To make matters worse, Harper and her new partner are about to be caught between two sides in an age-old war, and if these two can't stick together, solving the case will be the least of their worries. Novella (approx. 40,000 words). Tenth Volume of the Harper "Foxxy" Beck Mystery Series. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger).
