The First Song Bird is based upon a little Bird named Blue and his journey to become courageous. Every morning in the forest, just before sunrise, one bird sings first to wake the whole woods. Follow Blue on his journey to be the First Song Bird despite the Flock who try to stand in his way. The Flock controls the first song of the day and only allows birds who sing like them to sing the first song to wake the woods. Blue meets Polly the Possum, Sammy the Squirrel and Soar the Eagle during his journey to find the Flock and become the First Song Bird. Blue is not welcomes by the Flock. But, Soar teaches Blue to have courage and follow his dream despite being afraid to fail. This book is very inspiring with beautiful hand drawn scenes by a teenager from Tennessee, Karissa Fitzgerald. Children will be drawn to the illustrations and love the story of Blue and learn from his courage. The next time you are outdoors before sunrise listen closely for the First Song Bird and remember Blue's story. Author Wade White lives in Lyon County, Kentucky and is a father of two, Brandon and Jenna and married to Dee Dee for 26 years. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a major in Political Science and minor in History. Wade has been a youth minister for over 16 years. Wade was elected as the Lyon County Judge Executive in 2011, and is currently serving his second term. Illustrator Karissa Fitzgerald, a teenage, self-taught artist lives in White Pine, Tennessee. Karissa Volunteers at the Good News Club at the elementary school near her church teaching the gospel to the children.
