Sammy McGann and the Secret Soup People

Sammy McGann was eleven and she'd had enough. She was fed up, bored and lonely. So she ran away from home. But only for a couple of hours. But it was life-changing, so she decided she would do it every day. Her mother would have been horrified to know where Sammy was going, but that didn't stop her from running away every day after school. She hated being naughty. And even though Sammy didn't really like boys all that much, she met Toby, an unexpected friend who changed her life. But when Toby suddenly disappears from her secret place, Sammy's world spirals into a storm of confusion and trouble-and it's not just because of the violent weather, but from her secret life being uncovered. Faced with the consequences, Sammy's journey becomes one of understanding what's truly important.
Not only does Sammy face near death, caught in the fury of a ravaging storm, she is about to face the most frightening fury of all, when her mum finds out what she's been up to.

This is a lovely tale about what's really important in life. It will make you laugh and cry, and it teaches children the values of life and how to appreciate the simple things that they have, and not to take them, or those around them for granted. It gently reminds us all to cherish life's simple joys and the people who make our world special, teaching children the value of gratitude and the importance of those around them.
