Like Dry Toast In Hot Tea

These one hundred short poems with no names were written in the late winter and the spring of 2017 when we had a lot of rain in Northern California. That's why several of them speak about that time of year when there is the gray sky above and the wet earth below. It's also the time of year when a cup of hot tea and a piece of toast is a wonderful thing. Sometimes the simplest thing is the most satisfying. If you're having your tea with a piece of dry toast, and you're dunking it, there's no need to put jam or butter on it. To add the jam and butter would ruin the perfect balance between the toast and tea. It's complete. A cup of hot tea can do many things, depending upon how it is served. With milk and sugar, it's warm and comforting. Holding the cup in your hand is almost like holding the hand of your best friend. If green tea is served plain, it can stimulate your mind. If it's black tea with a slice of lemon, it can help you get over a cold or the flu. Tea is so simple, yet so beneficial. I hope you find these poems simple and complete, like dry toast in hot tea.
