Then he shook his head and all the brown came back, like bricks laid to mortar, and she wasn't so certain anymore. The Outside world is strange and dangerous. There are less laws and more people. Mrs. Larson and her assistant, Hensley, take in a girl who collapses behind their Seaside Bakery from a fever and nearly broken jaw. Safe Inside, the girl begins to recover, and Hensley desperately wants to know her name. He secretly wonders if her words could save them all-if only she would speak.
