The novel Personal Prison evokes the life of children with disabilities living in an orphanage in Bucharest. The main character, Dana, suffers from depression and personality disorders. She is quite tough to the other children, which makes them think of her as their superior. She could have anything, and they would give it to her. Tatoasa was her humble servant who begged for her and could bring her the moon and the stars. But sometimes, she would hate Dana for her malice. The novel also dwells on the life of young girls with mental disabilities, without any notion of life, and the nurses, who also struggle amongst them. Due to her behavior, Dana is moved to another orphanage, which was more like a prison, where she was only allowed to go out in the backyard. She is alone and helpless. She wants to die, but she can't do it. In the end, she meets a boy in a wheelchair who just turns her life around. Her love for him changes her from within, and even though they were in a prison, they prove to become free.
