We all need a sanctuary--a safe place--in troubled times. Each of us lives in a inner house we build for ourselves. This is where we take shelter from difficulties--at least, that's the theory. However, many people live in their own house of pain, or house of disappointment, or house of bitterness and resentment, or house of frustration. The author would like to suggest a better idea: why not choose to build and live in a house of hope? The idea of "house" is looked into; then 5 important parts of a house are identified, relating them to parts of a "house of hope." These are the foundation, the walls, the roof, the door, and the windows. To build a house of hope, the foundation is positive focus, the walls are persistence, the roof is forgiveness, the door is kindness expressed to others, and the windows are the light of God and His purposes for the builder. As illustrations, a number of Rosalie Glemann's song lyrics are used, as well as some of her verse writings lettered over scenic pictures (public domain). This little book is envisioned as a self-help manual, to give the reader a way to escape from an inner prison of helplessness to the mind-set of a sanctuary of hope.
