Andr?s Hern?ndez Alende (Havana, 1953) is a writer and journalist who resides in Miami. He is an editor as well as columnist for the newspaper El Nuevo Herald, in Miami, as well as a columnist for Suburbano and Voces of the Huffington Post. He has his own blog, called El Blog de Alende. He has published two novels: : El Ocaso y El para?so ten?a un precio. El Ocaso was one of five finalists in the 2013 Novela de Contacto Latino Contest. Andr?s Hern?ndez Alende is married and has two daughters. DE UN SOLO TAJO is a work of fiction that depicts accounts based on true events that took place in Cuba during the Castro Regime. A renegade officer in charge of a remote camp in the interior of the island has established a reign of terror in that region, harassing the farmers and their families and evoking old rituals of witchcraft dating back to the time of slavery. The head of state in Havana sends a young officer to find out what is happening. This novel, for its thematic focus and narrating skill of the author, is easy to read and of high interest. In its pages the reader will discover the little known realities of Cuba after the Revolution.
