Upshur County West Virginia: Abstracts of Wills, 1851-1884

This work was originally prepared by the Work Projects Administration (formerly the Works Progress Administration), and entitled "Calendar of Wills in West Virginia: No. 49, Upshur County (Buckhannon)." With this printing, the publication is reissued with the title "Upshur County, West Virginia: Abstracts of Wills, 1851-1884," which better reflects the content of the book. Upshur County's will records are complete from 1851, the date of establishment of the county. In compiling this work, the abstractors limited the publication to wills recorded prior to 1885. Thus only Will Book A has been used. The wills contained herein are entered chronologically by date of probate and are arranged as follows: name of testator, occupation of testator if shown, place will made, date will made, date of probate, names of devisees, name of executor, abstract of will, names of witnesses to will, book and page number of recording, and assigned calendar number.
