I Heard You Were Looking for Me

Sergeant Joe McCoy is a tough soldier, a lady's man, and a scoundrel. He takes whatever he wants, whether it is a typewriter, an enemy bunker or another man's wife. When his Army career is abruptly ended, he publishes a pulpy novel that doesn't sell, and just when it seems things couldn't get worse, he meets Phoebe, who leaves him weak in the knees and is destined to change him. A mysterious publisher assigns him to write a biography of disgraced Congressmen and Communist Hunter J. Parnell Thomas. He grabs the deal but then finds he has made it with the devil. He doesn't know which way to turn until the ghost of Thomas appears and offers to help. It sounds like a great idea, but Joe soon finds himself on the run from the cops, the mob, and an army of demons with only one discernable weakness. His skills as a brawler are useless against the devil's minions, and when Phoebe is captured, he realizes he will have to put his own life on the line to save her. It's a terrifying dilemma, and only God can write the ending.
