The chapters have appeared in religious and other papers. Many, in this form, have had wide circulation. They are introduced here essentially unchanged. The writer regards them as a series of tracts on important, practical problems of heart, conscience and life. The chapters are placed in this more permanent form for the same reason that the writer preaches-to reach men. The conviction to preach and to write are one, and he sincerely trusts that both are of the Lord.
