Windows For The Journey: Prose, Prayers, And Poems For The Daily Walk

Windows for the Journey shares thoughts through prose, prayers, and poetry that can be used as a resource for personal worship and devotional times. While not intended to be pietistic in their application, some thoughts may help you to look inwardly at how to respond to God's prompting and calling. In responding to our Lord's words to us in our private times of worship, we are afforded the opportunity to strengthen and enhance the mission of the church and ministry to the world. It is during our times of private worship and quiet meditation that we are often able to reflect upon our own journey through life and what the Lord might be saying to us. The answers to our questions are often given to us through the reading and study of Scripture. Other times those answers come to us by simply listening for and hearing God's voice. On some occasions, we can be helped and guided by the thoughts and writings of individuals who have shared some of the same experiences we might be having. I refer to these thoughts and writings as "windows." Like construction windows, the windows in this book will have different shapes, sizes, and colors. As we each travel through our life-journey, we experience many different occurrences and episodes that span the entire spectrum of spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical conditions and challenges that can lift our spirits to great heights or, on the other hand, bring us to our knees. We can feel great joy and happiness on one day and be tested by pain and disappointment on the next day. During these various times, it can be helpful and encouraging to be able to meditate, pray, or reflect upon a thought, a prayer, or a verse that reminds us of God's love, support, and nearness. The Lord is always present during everything that our daily walk may reveal throughout our journey. Windows for the Journey includes a variety of meditations, prayers, and poetic thoughts that address many of the circumstances and challenges that everyone faces or will face in life.
