A Leap In The Sky

Have you ever wondered what fear is? How is it caused, and how do you get over it? This is a story, weaved around a young boy's life, who faced his fear head-on, and overcame it. This boy was Alan. Alan feared heights. His enemy was none other than himself. It was his acrophobic inner self. He had always wondered what it would feel like to explore the sky. He had dreamed of flying! He always wanted to explore this vast, azure emptiness. He always felt jealous of birds, who were free to explore the skies as they pleased. They had the ability to fly! They were untouchable! Alan wanted to be like a bird. He wanted to find out what it felt like, to have the wind rush past you at frightening speeds, he wanted to see the world from up there. One day, Alan saw an interview on the TV about a man who went skydiving. The man described it as the ability to fly, and conquer the skies. When he saw the interview, he knew skydiving was made for him! It was what he had always been looking for. A way to explore the sky. He had made up his mind, that one day, he would go skydiving for sure, but he did not know that a traumatising experience would create a barrier of fear between him and his dream. The trauma he faced as a child created an enemy, his fear of heights. Will Alan be able to beat this enemy, and accomplish what he dreamed of? Will he be able to take his leap in the sky?
