In 1853, the courthouse burned destroying all probate records. The author has used many sources such as newspapers, Cemetery/Church and court records to complete this work. The author has even included numerous Family sketches of persons from the county: Anthony, Austin, Barge, Benson, Butler (3), Caldwell, Cooper, Crittenden, Dunham, Eskew, Flowers, Gandy, Glasgow, Lazenby, Lloyd, McKellar, Milner, Nix, Pitts, Poole, Porter, Reynolds, Seale, Sims, Stallings (3), Stevenson, Urquhart, and Wimbrey. The Index mentions approximately 4,500 entries of persons within this book.
