Inspired Messages From Jesus Volume 2

In this devotional, Jesus reaches out to us in our need, just as Jesus had reached out to Peter, when, as he was walking on the water to Jesus, he doubted and began to sink. When Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he could accomplish the miraculous. But when suddenly reality, a cold splash of water to his face caused him to weigh exactly what he was doing, he began to lose confidence.Jesus could easily have appeared in Peter's boat. He could have, from the shore, calmed the storm. But He had a plan for Peter's life, and He has a plan for our lives as well. He wanted Peter to desire to come to Him, and he also desires that we come to Him. Through His teachings, He calls us seek Him with trust.Jesus' Hand reaches out to all of us, and it is a sure grip. Peter was not intending to let go of Jesus' Hand, and neither are we. After tasting life with Jesus, we are finding a greater trust for letting go of our fears and doubts, and reaching out to Jesus instead.Notice that Jesus did not calm the waters until He and Peter were safely in the boat with the others. This is significant, as He wants us to know that we are called to "walk on water" at times. When life catches us and causes us to be overwhelmed, it is then that we will feel His Hand there to save us.Jesus may not calm the waters, though, until we have once again returned to Him, safely in the boat.
