On April 1, 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee realized his Army of Northern Virginia cannot survive General Grant's spring offensive as the Union Army overwhelms his beleaguered forces in Petersburg, Virginia. Lee selects six cavalry riders to carry a very important message to President Jefferson Davis in Richmond. Only one rider survives the dangerous twenty-mile ride to the Confederate Capital. Their hardships include railroad tracks and bridges that have been destroyed by Union Army, but their travels continue by wagon train, ferries and pontoon bridges. An interesting conclusion gives the reader a historical documentary of accurate facts and speculation from treasure hunters what might have actually happened to the lost Confederate gold and silver during the final days of the Civil War.
