What does the Bible REALLY say about hell? It depends on who you ask! There are many interpretations of what the Bible says, from traditionalism to universalism. During my young adult life, I began to question some of the sermons I was hearing. How could God be a loving God when I felt if I told a lie, He would strike me with lightning, or worse. Dr. Frances Mae Newman is the pastor of Bear Creek United Methodist Church in Lucasville, Ohio and Alma United Methodist Church in Alma, Ohio. She is a graduate of Global Grace Seminary in Texas and Newburgh Theological Seminary in Indiana.
