It is 3134 and the Romani are taking the war to the home galaxy of the Saltic. The Romani consist of two species, one human and one reptile. They form the Republic of Nova Romae, which was founded by human exiles from the large area of human space ruled by seventeen corporations, seven large and ten small. These corporations govern human space and have done so for a millennium, ever since the destruction of life on Earth in its final world war. Earth itself was re-inhabited by a billion caretakers who turned it into a museum planet and all human governments recognized it as neutral ground for inter-corporate conferences and no wars ever involved the Earth. There had been three corporate wars and a fourth was brewing. Despite that, the Romani were dealing with a more recent problem. An enemy known as the Saltic, a despicable, vermiform life form that used the brains of other sentient species to function as fast computer nodes. They had made many attempts in the past to acquire human brains but the Romani had fought them to a standstill and driven them out of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Saltic came from the Andromeda galaxy and the Romani had discovered how to use the intergalactic drives captured from the Saltic to take the war to them. An expeditionary force consisting of the Romani with the most experience in fighting the Saltic were sent through the wormhole to explore Andromeda and look for allies in the war against the worms. The battleship Tempestas and the dreadnought Avenging Talon entered the Andromeda galaxy carrying with them the hopes and fears of the human race as they attempt to discover how to defeat the greatest threat, ever encountered, to the future of humanity. Could they find a way to tip the balance of power against the Saltic in favor of the humans...?
