Updated as of May 29, 2018 On June 12, 2008, the EPA issued national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) for the plating and polishing area source category under section 112 of the Clean Air Act (CAA). On June 20, 2011, the EPA proposed amendments to clarify that the emission control requirements of the plating and polishing area source NESHAP did not apply to any bench-scale activities. The amendments also made several technical corrections and clarifications that are not significant changes in the rule's requirements. In addition, on June 20, 2011, the EPA issued a direct final rule amending the area source standards for plating and polishing area sources. Since we received an adverse comment, we are withdrawing the direct final rule today simultaneously with this final rule.
