This play takes place in the present, in a small fishing village of British Columbia. Situated on Vancouver Island, this hamlet lies at the mouth of an ocean fjord, on the edge of a national park. It is a world in itself, where people can choose to live at their own rhythm, a place accessible only by boat or by float-plane.In the summertime, a handful of tourists stop there, for an hour or so. They sit down sipping cappuccinos or meander on a boardwalk along an inlet. As soon as they leave, the silence returns. There is no road and there are no cars. Trails are covered with oyster shells, glimmering in the moonlight. When the weather is foul, the wind howls between the cedar trees and the whistle buoy sighs, moved by the ocean swells. After the rain, the inlet glitters, full of milky lights. At night, the sky sparkles with stars. Two years ago, the vessel that brought freight to the village was replaced by a more modern ship. Now permanently docked in the inlet, the Lady Rose has been converted into a Bed and Breakfast for hikers and this is where the action of this play takes place.Love and desire, sensuality and seduction... Can we love and not desire ? Must we seduce to be loved ? Do we need to be loved first, before loving ? Do we love to be loved ?« Tales always end with: they had many children and lived happily ever after... This story, however, starts when the age of having children has passed and the only thing left is how to live happily ever after. » A. Korette
