Pioneers of classical guitar Francisco T?rega and Dionisio Aguado are credited with some of the most important musical contributions of the 19th century. T?rega's music is strongly influential in the twentieth century. Even non-musicians recognize Recuerdos de la Alhambra as one of the most beautiful pieces ever played on the guitar. In Escuela de Guitarra, a guitar tutorial published in 1825, Dionisio Aguado described for the first time the guitar technique used today, including use of fingernails, sitting position, and hand and fingers motions. The 16 compositions in this book include Tarrega's Gran Vals, listed first on TakeLessons 5 Classical Guitar Pieces Everyone Should Know, as well as his beautiful Lagrima ("Tear Drop"). All of the pieces have been transcribed for playing on four strings, with variations needed to maintain balance and expression when notes on the two bass strings are removed. The change to four strings make the arrangements much more accessible for guitarists, some pieces easily played by inexperienced guitarists. It also makes playing these classic examples of guitar repertoire possible on a wide range of four-string instruments, including baritone ukulele, smaller ukuleles with low G tuning, and banjo.Audio of each composition are included online, including both individual tracks and an ISO image for creating an audio CD.
