Philamena is the third and youngest daughter of the Archduke of Visnavinia, the leader of a prosperous territory at the center of a stormy continent. On the evening of a great dinner, Philamena is badly shamed by her parents. Angered at her mistreatment, she decides to abscond in the middle of the night to enemies of the state, but things do not go as planned. Devastated, she does not know how she can continue, until her cousin, and lady in waiting takes her to see a magician in the woods. There, she discovers truths and perspectives she did not see, which set her on a quest to overthrow the most oppressive ruler on the continent. The novel combines magical realism and psychology in a powerful allegory about freedom and thought.
