Meet Chris Parker, a 40 something father of 3 teenagers. Just when everything in Chris's life seemed to be ticking along nicely for the first time since his wife, Gail's untimely passing, the recession in Great Britain at that time claimed yet another victim - Deelightful Designz - the graphic design studio Chris has worked for twenty-five years or so and where he fully expected to remain until the day he retired. Now, Chris suddenly finds himself out of work and with three demanding teenaged kids to feed and clothe, plus a hefty mortgage and a car loan to pay - life suddenly doesn't look quite so promising . . . until his son spots an advert in the local Macduffs fast food outlet promoting a family band competition. From that moment on, something wonderful starts to happen to the Parker family, particularly as Kim is a talented keyboard player, Connor plays lead guitar and Corey plays both bass guitar and is a whizz at music programming, plus, on top of all that, all three kids write lyrics to go with their own compositions - and yet there seems something missing - a lead singer. It is when the kids begin to pester Chris to let them actually enter the competition, that he inadvertently reveals, back when Gail and he were both students at Uni, how Gail loved to sing and write songs. Naturally, when he also shares with them that he has a box stuffed full of Gail's old cassette tapes somewhere up in his bedroom, they instantly start nagging him to go find them so that they can hear their Mum's voice again. When Chris finds the tapes and plays them, not only do the kids hear their Mum singing but also hear the voice of her male singing partner too - but who is the mystery man?
