You may be wondering about the unusual title. Allow me to explain. In Chinese philosophy, the Tao is "the absolute principle underlying the universe, combining within itself the principles of yin and yang and signifying the way, or code of behavior, that is in harmony with the natural order." The title describes the book content with frequent references to nature, the eternal cycle, and human relationships and interactions with the surrounding world. Though some of the content took hours to author, in terms of the eternal cycle, they were a mere blip or momentary thought. If you are still confused, all will become clear as you read. All of my books serve one major purpose, to provide thoughtful comments on life. Likewise, this one maintains that principle. It contains a balance of poetry and vignettes including personal comments where needed. Each element consists of small snippets of life captured in words. They include kernels of wisdom garnered from life experiences; descriptions and observations generated from travel adventures; and heart-warming interactions with loved ones and strangers. At times, you will smile, and other times you will ponder. Quotes appear at the top of the vignette pages, some relevant to that page's content and others not but still thought provoking. They are jewels in their own right. The book's content originally appeared in my monthly e-zine, the Poetical Journal, which is beginning its eighteenth year of uninterrupted publication. Sometimes you will be able to guess the approximate date of the writing since a historical event will be mentioned that triggered the creative content. The book is organized so that it can be read non-sequentially, start in the middle or back if you desire. Jump all over the place. Whether a poem or a vignette, most seldom exceed one page. Each is a story unto itself. On occasions the poem and vignette are linked with a similar theme. Those will be obvious. As you read through these personal stories, you may be reminded of similar experiences. May you smile. In this high stress world where almost everything is time driven-rush-rush-rush. May you discover moments of respite and calmness. However you choose to read the book, may you enjoy!
