Have you heard of Russia's last duchess, Anastasia? Recently the Russian government is finally admitting a more thorough investigation of the Romanov remains is necessary. Are they finally open to telling the rest of the story? This generation is ready for the true story of what happened to Anastasia Romanov. Inarguably one of the great mysteries of the 20th Century, this is far more intriguing than the current cartoon features of this saga. The reason this question has been so difficult to answer is because, in reality, those who protected her were extremely careful to hide her identity in a small, obscure location in East Texas. Even the KGB couldn't figure this one out. The characters are very real, alive with all the human qualities that make reality more interesting than fiction. My grandmother told this story to me as a child, and introduced me to the last remaining member of the Romanov family. My grandmother(Mamou) was not given to tales of fantasy, and her integrity was above reproach. Having met the family in Beaumont, Texas, in the 1950's, I can only say that their fear of being discovered by the KGB was undeniable. There is no doubt in my mind that this story is based on the truth and it is one that needs to be told. While Part I of the trilogy told you of how Anastasia escaped, with her Page Vadim Alevsky; Part II takes you through the trials of coming to America as Russian immigrants. The difficulties of desperate refugees escaping annihilation, how they survived and settled to raise a family, and the warmth and acceptance they found in this new country, offer a true tale of hope for all who seek a better life.
