Thoughts and events are transformed into whimsical stories chronicled by the protagonist Blue, a blade of grass who lives in the company of several varieties of grass compatriots. Blue is both witness and philosopher, with his comments and experiences becoming an allegory as he writes about profound and not so profound social, political, and sometimes life-threatening events that seem commonplace to humans.
