CONSTANT ZETA is an up-and-coming scientist who has a controversial theory to prove on Contact with developing species. He receives a request to help Egolsia (Earth), a planet in a neighboring solar system that is flagging in its development. The Egolsians have just been abandoned and embargoed by the interstellar community due to their penchant for using any technology for the purpose of war.Once he arrives, he meets Egolsian activist and scientist DR. SARAH WHITNEY. He also joins up with OWVI, his friend and expedition engineer, and STANTISH, a colleague from a neighboring planet. They then learn the situation on Egolsia has eroded even further than what they thought. They meet with an adjunct council that effectively puts an end to their expedition. Constant and his team follow Dr. Whitney to a clandestine camp where a group of scientists has been studying how to grow food in their barren land, destroyed by climate change. Constant has a vision for a new energy source for Egolsia. PRINCESS FATIMA, an Egolsian noblewoman, unexpectedly shows up and tries to coerce Dr. Whitney into telling her what they are working on with Constant. As the new energy source is being built, Stantish and STORM, the Egolsian head of the camp's security, decide to follow the bandits out into the desert, in hopes of deterring them not to return. They succeed, but only after unintentionally killing most of the tribe. Storm is also lost in the battle. The energy source passes a successful test, and Constant goes back to the desert for one more vision. When he returns, he finds the energy source destroyed, and the camp under attack-this time not by the nomads, but by Princess Fatima. They are captured, and the Princess offers Constant and Dr. Whitney a proposition to join her and create a new energy source that can be controlled by the power possessors of Egolsia. They are able to make a narrow escape, and make their way finally to a new civilization being born in the center of the Americas.
