In my years, decades of writing, I have tried to bring out in my work a wider experience of gay men, often both emasculated and over-sexualized within popular culture and their own community. I toil to include a realness in my poetry that is recognized by a wide audience as not just the experience of gay men, but of the human condition in general. Yet these poems, prose and verse alike, are easily identifiable by fellow gays as stories that are important in their laying bare of understanding and connection. Renting Superman will allow you to explore this world and the threads that connect us all. - Robert A. Geise, author of Renting Superman."His work draws from a collective experience of gay men our age, which I love. The poems can be sexual without being cheap, and at the same time they are workaday rather than falsely elevated. They resonate." - Mark Zegarelli, Logic for Dummies."Renting Superman bristles with the realism of a gay man's journey from 'The First Time I Bought Porn' through the tragic poignancy of an al fresco meal 'After Pulse.' Geise is a cultural technician, deftly navigating references to the eroticism of Walt Whitman, a professional wrestler's murder-suicide, and the awakening of lust on the Atlantic City boardwalk, all of which remind us that beauty and brutality can be found anywhere, often-as in the case of the iconic 'St. Sebastian' ('pain his only fruit')-simultaneously." - RG Evans, Overtipping the Ferryman.
